Summary
One of the biggest — if not the biggest — challenges for Christians is the Darwinian evolutionary scenario of “human origins” as described by the fossil record. The Darwinian process is often illustrated by an evolutionary (phylogenic) family tree with dotted lines connecting over ten different species of hominids. But this description raises many questions. We will examine some of these questions and offer an alternative explanation.
The second and larger problem with the gradual evolutionary description is the record of inventions left behind. In the early stages these were very primitive stone tools but more recently there was an explosion of intellectual creativity as described by the “complexity” of the inventions. This is inconsistent with a gradual evolutionary process, but consistent with the Biblical account.
Finally, we will look at six key discriminators that illustrate why we are fundamentally different than any of God’s other creations.
